Topic For Second Season of Culture X

Third Floor Production, Singapore just coming back to Bali for the second time on June 2009, for their documentary film "Topic For Second Season of Culture X". The story tells about the Tooth Filling Ceremony and The Pandan War (Perang Pandan), with the crew members consisting of: Jockim Nelson Pereira/Director, Bala Subramaniam /Producer, Shanmugavel Vinu /DOP, Hazlina Mohamed/Soundman.

Right after the first project of the Third Floor Production entitled “The Trunyanese Village” was getting fully successes, they proudly coming back on their next project with us Bali Satria Film International. Bali Satria Film facilitated Film Permit, Talents, Accommodations, Transportations, etc.

This documentary film are telling about Tooth Filling Ceremony in Bali, Tooth Filling is an important rite of passage for Balinese Hindu that marks the transition from childhood to adulthood, Metatah or 'tooth filing' is a common ritual in Bali. Long tooth are known as signs of vices such as greed, lust, jealousy and deceit and having the filing of tooth is to cleanse the body and soul of unseen malignant forces. The teeth filing is performed by a professional known as a 'sangging' who is traditionally of the Brahman caste. And also filming the "Perang Pandan" or famous with "Mekare-Kare" is held in the village of Tenganan this is an annual fighting ritual. Pandanus leaves, which are spiked along their edges, are used as weapons. The area below the neck to the waist can be hit and each man has a woven shield to endeavor to protect himself. There is no winner, loser or champion in this ritual.

The first of the shoots was held in Puri Petang where the Teeth Filling Ceremony was happening, and then shoots the Lawar making using approximately 300 people. Lawar is a food made inconstantly of pig meet, young jack fruits which is particularly combined with complete ingredients such as: ginger-root, ginger, onion, garlic, paper, turmeric, coriander, nutmeg and the main fickle is a fresh pig's blood. The Second of the shoots was held in Karangasem regency.

“The story of this film is good for education and knowledge about the culture of Bali, also to increase a tourism destination” said Putu Susi Erlina (Production Manager).
