In the capital of Lampung Province, you can visit the Lampung Museum on Jalan Teuku Umar. There you can see the ancient objects, the remain of ceramic from China and Siam, or household utensils which is from centuries ago. The museum is opened on monday until saturday. Taman budaya or art center is place for presenting the classical music and traditional dances of Lampung. it takes fifteen minutes to get there from center of town. Not far from here, only ten minutes drive you can take view of Lampung Bay and Bandar Lampung municipality at the hill on Puncak Saindah of Sukadanaham village.
Lampung society consists of two main groups, respectively has special traditional law. They are Peminggir traditional society and Pepadun traditional society . Peminggir society, such as, Krui, Ranau, Komering, and Kayu Agung society, live along the coast And, Pepadun society, who customarily conservative, such as, Abung (Abung Siwo Migo), Pubian (Pubian Telu Suku), Tulang Bawang (Migo Pak), Buai Lima (Way Kanan), and Sungkay Bunga Mayang, live in the inland.
Ancient Krakatau was estimated 2,000 meters in height and radius of 9 kms. Its great eruption happened in pre history in 416 as documented in the ancient Javanese book "Pustaka Raja", and left 3 island as the rest i.e. Rakata, Sertung and Panjang Island. In the later expanding Rakata comes and followed by Danan and Perbuatan volcanic summits. The latest great eruption of Krakatau volcano happened on 27th of the August 1883 and destroyed most of its body (3/4 of it). It caused big wave with 40 metres height. The eruption was heard from Phillippines, Alice Springs, Rodriquez Island and Madagascar. The power of its eruption was estimated to 21,547.6 atom bomb multiplied.
Nuwou Balak or Balai Keratun is originally home of the chief of the village. The house consists of several rooms, namely, Lawang Kuri (archway), Pusiban (guest report room), ljan Geladak (entrance stair), Anjung-Anjung (front verandah, guest room), Serambi Tengah (men's living room), Lapang Agung (ladies meeting room), Kebik Temen or Kebik Kerumpu (bedroom of the eldest child or penyimbang bumi), Kebik Rangek (bedroom of the second child or penyimbang ratu), and Kebik Tengah (bedroom of the third child or penyimbang batin).
At the pavilion, the rooms are used to display a number of cultural objects. In the room there are Pepadun (seat of the head of a ceremony), Kutamara or bridal room for penyimbang woman who want to dance. |
